Hey friends, Jiahui posted an article about her experience for the "We Love Singapore Party". For the actual URL. Yesterday evening, in honour of our nation’s birthday, my friend and I went to one of our favourite vegetarian places, Food #03, which is part of Post-Museum. Post-Museum calls themselves “an independent cultural and social space which seeks to examine contemporary life, promote the arts and connect people”. They always have many interesting exhibitions (in fact, they are having a small one right now), so you should check out their website for event calenders and such. One problem is that it’s located all the way in the Jalan Besar/Little India area (yes it IS far, but it’s worth it!). Getting there isn’t too bad, they have quite a few buses (from Bukit Timah, you have 66 and 67. Cabbing isn’t TOO bad either, ~$12 from NP? The address is 107+109 Rowell Road!). They were having some kind of pre-National Day event (aptly named We Love Singapore, haha imaginative). We didn’t really know what to expect, but we made our way there anyway for the food! My friend (let’s call her X because I like that letter) was pretty ravenous because she’d walked all the way there from the nearest MRT (Farrer Park), while my father very kindly decided to drive me all the way there. Thank god; I can’t imagine walking (especially in this humidity!). Oh, and I apologise once again for the low-quality pictures! I’d left my DSLR in my locker in school and I couldn’t get it because the room is locked. So you have to settle for bad, low-res phone images (5.0 megapixels, yeah right).
The food was AWESOME. I had an asparagus and oyster mushroom (yum yum) salad with tofu mayonnaise dressing (nothing like real mayo at ALL, which is perfect, because I don’t eat mayo), while X had “chin-chai” with linguine (basically pasta with tons of mixed veg), and we shared a small plate of deep fried mushrooms, which came with a really great soya sauce (i think) with tofu mayo dip. I love the veg food here! It’s really different from the veg stuff in NP, which is like mostly Chinese vegetarian (love the mock sweet and sour pork at the vegetarian stall in Makan Place!). The food here is more western (we didn’t try it this time, but their pizzas are amazing, thin-crusted, like those at Timbre!). Different food for different moods, I suppose! After our meal, we went to check out the activities happening around the two-storey museum/cafe. There was some karaoke happening on top, a DJ set at the side, and the most exciting of all: FIRE DANCERS!!
PRETTY EXCITING STUFF. They were offering lessons, so if you’re interested in learning something cooler than your normal dances, you could call up Post-Museum or something to inquire about it. I think this group calls themselves Fireflys, so check them out. OH BEFORE I FORGET, meet CAVIAR and BUTTER: After tearing myself away from the cats, we went to check out the DJ set at the other side. We didn’t stay very long, but there was some ethnic-sounding music mixed with awesome stuff, like Neu!, who are one of the bands I’ve been telling myself to check out but haven’t gotten around to it. If you like Kraftwerk and “krautrock”, or even just German electro/experimental music, YOU WILL LOVE NEU! Seriously, all the songs (no matter how few) I’ve heard so far are great (if you’re into that kind of thing) so give it a try!
Wooo NATIONAL PRIDE. So Happy National Day 2009, everyone! Enjoy that extra one day of holiday, which I’m sure you’re all thankful for, me included! More public holidays on weekends please, thank you VERY much. P.S. If you recognised the Cut Copy song title, GO YOU!

Aren’t they adorable? I am seriously not one for pets, but I love cats because they ignore you instead of slobbering everywhere for your attention (that’s not to say I hate dogs or anything, but I prefer lazy creatures). These two are so cute AND THEY WERE UP FOR ADOPTION! I was honestly thinking of taking them, but if I showed up at my doorstep with two cats in tow, I think my parents would just shriek and throw me out, cats and all. So no go for me, unfortunately! I was talking to the owner and she said they had a few offers already, but nothing confirmed because she wanted to give them away together, and you know how hard THAT is.
